Our long-term objective is that students will go on to start entrepreneurial enterprises possibly creating employment for others or find workplace opportunities.

 

Course Outline

  • Control & threading of plain machine and over-locker
  • Industrial machines are used as per industry standards
  • Sample portfolio
  • Boy’s pants with fly and back pocket
  • Panel skirt
  • Unlined lady’s jacket
  • Man’s shirt with long sleeves, pocket and cuff
  • Lined laptop bag
  • Lined shopper with inner pocket & zip

Students are taught a range of sewing skills using industrial sewing machines. At the end of the course, graduates will have a range of sample garments as well as a workbook/portfolio of skills learnt.

Entry Requirements:    Basic literacy and numeracy
Course Duration: 14 weeks (Khayelitsha) & 12 weeks (Hermanus)
Times: 08h30-16h30 Monday-Thursday
08h30-15h30 Friday
Cost to student: Khayelitsha R600 (includes the Business Essentials Course. 3 x payments of R200)
Hermanus R350 (2 payments of R100 & 1 x R155)
R200 non-refunable course registration fee
Cost to Learn to Earn: R18 700 to train one person
