A Barista is a person who has the passion for the skill of making coffee. A barista work in the hospitality industry and this could mean long hours and shift work. Areas of employment could include: coffee shops, restaurants and function venues, corporate office spaces and mobile coffee vans.

Ground UP Barista Training Academy

Modules covered include:
• Understanding of coffee (theory)
• Background of coffee
• Understanding your equipment
• Speciality beverages
• Basic Espresso
• Milk foaming techniques
• Maintaining & cleaning equipment
• Practical coffee making experience – job shadowing 

Offered Khayelitsha & Hermanus 
Entry Requirements: Grade 10 and a desire to work in the hospitality industry 
(including long hours and possible shift work)
Course Duration: 8 weeks
Times: Full day, Monday-Friday 
Cost to student:  R600 (R300 non-refundable course registration fee + R300 course fee)
Cost to Learn to Earn:
