Basic Hospitality Skills
The 12-week course prepares students for employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industries. The training received prepares students for positions as waiters and kitchen assistants. The course covers the basics from food preparation and hygiene to customer service, the role of the waiter and table & beverage service.
Modules covered include:
- Customer Service & Role of the waiter
- Food hygiene
- Handling knives & chopping skills
- Table & beverage service
- Cooking and baking terms
- Theory & practical training in food preparation & food service
- Preparation of recipes with eggs, vegetables, fruit, herbs & spices.

Entry Requirements: | Grade 10 pass, and a keen interest in food and people, successfully complete the course entry assessment. |
Course Duration: | 14 weeks full time |
Times: | full day, Monday-Friday |
Cost to student: | R900 (R300 non-refundable course registration fee + R600 course fee) |
